Our mission

Our mission is to unite the strength of all working people and our families, to improve our lives and lead the way to a more just and humane world.

Overview

We represent more than 45,000 long-term care workers providing quality in-home care, nursing home care and adult day health services in Washington State and Montana. We have successfully held politicians accountable and have become one of the most powerful advocacy organizations in the region.

Since our founding in Washington State, we have won significant wage increases (40 percent for home care workers), paid vacation, health benefits, and increased funding for nursing home workers and training opportunities. In Montana, we’ve won healthcare coverage for healthcare workers and in 2009 we won over $80 million in funding for long-term care.

We are part of the larger Service Employees International Union (SEIU) that now represents more than 2 million members in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, and more than 1.1 million health care workers across the country. We are part of a much larger movement that is fighting on behalf of working people nation-wide.
