KIPP Ascend Charter School is a tuition-free, open-enrollment, college preparatory middle school located on Chicago's West Side. Its mission is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and character traits necessary to succeed in top-quality high schools and universities, and have a positive impact on their communities.
On average, KIPP Ascend students enter the school in 5th grade reading and performing math below grade level. By 8th grade, these students’ test scores exceed the City and State average. 100% of 8th graders who have graduated from KIPP Ascend have been accepted to college-prep high schools. The Associate Board is a group of young professionals that convened in 2009 to help KIPP fulfill its mission.
