Beats, Rhymes and Life cultivates dynamic, culturally-responsive services that inspire youth to recognize their own capacity for healing and self-expression, through community engagement and the therapeutic power of hip hop. Hip Hop therapy is the purposeful integration of clinical theory and hip hop culture towards healing and self-discovery. Our Vision is that youth become healthy, contributing members of their communities.

Beats, Rhymes and Life (BRL) is a 501(c)(3) community-based organization in Oakland, California that serves youth between the ages of 12-24 years. Our mission is to improve mental health and social outcomes among marginalized youth by using hip hop as a catalyst for positive change and development.
