American Friends of the Bambi Homes Colombia

American Friends of the Bambi Homes Colombia is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to help underprivileged children in Colombia through our homes and our programs. Our homes are located in Bogotá, Cali, Darién, Marinilla and Medellín, supporting 750 children annually.

Bambi Homes takes in at-risk children who are in danger of or have suffered from physical abuse, neglect, parents' or guardians' substance abuse, or conditions related to extreme poverty, such as malnutrition and respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases. Many of the children Bambi Homes protects are victims of displacement due to Colombia's lengthy civil war, which has plagued the countryside and rural areas of Colombia, forcing families into urban areas with little opportunity for employment. At each of our five homes, every child receives professional attention from an interdisciplinary group of psychologists, social workers, nutritionists, doctors and caregivers. The process is based on the continued monitoring and assessment of all the child's conditions.
