AFRICODE - African Integrated Community Based Development Initiative

AFRICODE – Uganda is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that works at the grassroots level. It’s a volunteer membership organisation for women and men. It was established in Uganda in January 2007, in the response to the rising concern for the many underprivileged women and children whom they grew up together around Bwindi National Park particularly in Nombe Village. AFRICODE Uganda was legally recognised by the Ugandan Government in January 2007 as Non-Governmental organisation which operates in 4 Districts of Uganda under No of registration DGCS/287/2007. The Vision of AFRICODE is “A world where all people live free from poverty and where they and their rights are respected”. And the following mission helps to achieve the vision: “To develop the leadership and collective power of underprivileged women and children in Uganda to achieve high quality education, health and socio-economic conditions for themselves, their families, and their communities.” To achieve its mission, AFRICODE Uganda equip women and orphans and vulnerable children with the means to improve their own socio-economic conditions; improve their knowledge of health issues, their rights and the laws affecting them and increase their ability to apply them in practice; encourage positive and change negative attitudes regarding stereotypes, violence, and exploitation, and build a strong organization in which every part works actively together.
