PowerCorpsPHL connects people to careers and advances community-rooted, industry-responsive workforce development. PowerCorpsPHL works with industry to fill vacancies with local talent and employs out-of-school and out-of-work young adults in on-the-job-training positions that provide the technical skills and work experience needed to enter energy, water, infrastructure, natural resource management, and skilled trades positions.

PowerCorpsPHL runs workforce development initiatives in Philadelphia and provides technical assistance to communities nationwide.

In Philadelphia, PowerCorpsPHL employs and supports out-of-school or out-of-work 18- to 30-year-olds in on-the-job training and supportive work positions for 3- to 24-months that results in connection to living wage jobs in energy, water infrastructure, and community-based careers. To date, 85% of graduates transition to career pathway employment.

PowerCorpsPHL specifically recruits young people most impacted by the city’s gun violence epidemic and lack of opportunities. To date, justice-involved young people average an 8% one-year post-program recidivism rate compared to the citywide average of 45%.

Nationally, PowerCorpsPHL provides technical assistance to communities seeking to bridge the gap between industry need and local talent. To date, PowerCorpsPHL has worked across 10 communities and four time zones to expand the number of community-rooted, workforce development initiatives in the nation based on the model and learning of PowerCorpsPHL. This work has resulted in collaborative initiatives co-led by industry and community to embed economic opportunity within solutions towards a public good.
