Intercultural Development Agency (IDA)

We are building an IDA "Environmental Education Hub" (EE Hub) in rural Kapir sub county of Ngora District-Eastern Uganda in an effort to promote practical local and Contexualized adaptation strategies to local problems and challenges. The EE Hub shall also capitalize on AGRITECH Solutions coupled with Humanitarian and Community Based Tourism. The AGRITECH component by creating a physical and virtual space where agriculture meets technology and innovation; shall also support startups, researchers, rural farmers, and entrepreneurs by providing resources, training, and access to markets or data. In an effort to promote solidarity learning and exchange, IDA EE Hub shall operate in close collaboration with the Gulu communities of Coope/Bungatira and Te Cwaa village/Rwot Obilo in Northern Uganda.

Mission of the IDA EE Hub

To catalyze Uganda's agricultural transformation by harnessing innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship--empowering smallholder farmers, boosting food systems, and building a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient agri-economy.

Empower Smallholder Farmers

• Provide access to affordable digital tools, climate-smart practices, and market intelligence to improve productivity and income.

Accelerate Innovation & Startups

• Incubate and scale AGRITECH startups that address Uganda's unique challenges in post-harvest handling, logistics, financing, and inputs.

Enhance Market Access & Value Chains

• Strengthen linkages between farmers, processors, exporters, and consumers through digital platforms and traceability systems.

Promote Youth & Women in Agri-Business

• Support inclusive entrepreneurship and skilling programs for Uganda's youth and women in agriculture and technology sectors.

Foster Research, Data, and Policy Support

• Collaborate with universities, government, and development partners to drive evidence-based solutions and enabling policies.

Build Resilience to Climate Change
