Healing TREE (Trauma Resources, Education & Entertainment) advocates healing from abuse and trauma rather than coping with the symptoms, in order to transform lives and, ultimately, society. We achieve this by providing trauma-focused resources and education and by producing and partnering with relevant film, television, and theatre, empowering the social change necessary to create a healing movement.

The Issue

Leading studies show that trauma is a public health crisis and the root cause behind much mental and physical illness, addiction, crime, domestic violence, homelessness and suicide. Effective treatments are available but there is a lack of integration between the trauma, mental health and medical fields and of general awareness on the issue. We exist to change that so that healing from trauma becomes the new normal.

Key Programs

👀 EMDR Therapy Training Scholarships

We equip therapists who serve under-resourced communities with training in the most effective, evidence-based trauma treatment available, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy. As of July 2026, Healing TREE has provided EMDR Therapy Trainings for nearly 550 therapists (90% of whom were on full scholarship), serving approximately 27,500 youth in the foster care, child welfare and juvenile justice systems, as well as youth at risk of developing Opioid Use Disorder, per year. An additional 46 therapists are set to be trained in 2026/2027, making the total clients served with EMDR Therapy 29,800 per year. We've even had a groundbreaking partnership with CVS' (Fortune 5) Aetna on this program.

🎥 Silk Screening + Workshop

We use the arts to shine a light on the hardest-to-spot red flags of abuse and trauma and connect audiences with resources for healing. Our short film Silk stars mainstream talent and was an Official Selection at an Academy Award Qualifying festival. In this program, a screening of Silk is followed by a workshop that surveys show significantly increases survivor and perpetrator self-identification as well as a commitment to using our resources to get effective treatment. As of July 2026, we have sponsored over 800 participants – including students, domestic violence and addiction treatment center staff and clients, foster care agency staff, military, family court lawyers and judges and more – to receive this workshop.

❤️‍🩹 Approved Care Network (ACN)

We offer a nationwide, personally vetted directory of trauma therapists trained in leading, brain-body based modalities. We prioritize culturally appropriate care for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clients, as well as therapists who take insurance and offer sliding scale. We remove the guesswork in finding a good therapeutic fit for those who are already burdened by trauma. As of January 2026, we have providers across 40 of the United States.

👁️ Brainspotting Therapy Training BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ Scholarships

We make training in the cutting-edge, leading healing modality Brainspotting available to those who serve, and represent, communities most impacted by trauma. As of July 2026, Healing TREE has provided Brainspotting Therapy Training scholarships to 230 BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clinicians, serving approximately 11,500 clients per year, the majority being from these communities themselves. We have another 67 Brainspotting Therapy Training scholarships set for the remainder of 2026, making the total clients served with Brainspotting approximately 14,850 per year.

From trauma consulting for theatre/film scripts and arts organizations, to fiscal sponsorships for aligned projects, to partnerships that provide our resources to your audiences, we help artists depict and deal with mental illness, abuse and addiction with accuracy, care and impact. As of July 2026, Healing TREE has provided Fiscal Sponsorships, Trauma Consulting & Partnerships for 26 plays, musicals, films and arts organizations – including partnering with the feature film Mass (Sundance, theatrical release, BAFTA Nominee.)

🎬 Film, Television & Theatre Production

We produce art that empowers the social change necessary to create a healing movement.

The Knock Shadow is our upcoming short film, featuring two-time Emmy Award winner and three-time SAG Award winner Lea DeLaria (Orange Is The New Black). In the 1980's, a young, female therapist at a psychiatric ward encounters a patient whose symptoms lead her to question what is real and what isn't working in the field. It is set to be in the festival circuit in 2026 with an educational/impact campaign around it and a long-term goal of a television series. Learn More | Press & IMDb | Instagram

The Big Bad is a Divine Riot and Healing TREE co-production which explores intergenerational trauma, marginalized identities and the supernatural. This full-length play had a workshop production in May of 2026 in NYC and will target an eventual Off-Broadway or major Regional run. It is written by Lanford Wilson Award-winning and Showtime series staff writer Ren Dara Santiago, who also wrote The Knock Shadow.
