Sobre Nós

The RSPB is primarily a conservation charity, it saves birds and wildlife along with special natural areas from British reserves to the rainforest of Sumatra. It protects the environment against major problems such as climate change and climate chaos. Organises events designed to bring people closer to nature and to raise awareness through organised events, volunteering and Field Teaching schemes for children. We are looking for volunteers to help us with our Date With Nature event on site here at Lake Vyrnwy. From 1st April until 30 June the lakeside hide will be home to staff and volunteers monitoring a peregrine falcon nest site. They will be on site to talk visitors through the triumphs and tribulations of these beautiful birds as they take on nature to raise their chicks.

Peregrines have nested on this site for the last 30 years and now with modern technology we are able to transmit a picture from the cliff to the lakeside hide. A TV screen will show live images of the nest site and a DVD recorder will be used to monitor the site 24 hours a day. Visitors may be lucky enough to see them on a hunting spree, stooping at speeds in excess of 150 mph and striking their prey in mid air. If you have particular interest in this event, please get in touch for further information.
