L.E.S. Live Every Second is a non-for profit organization put together by a group of Lester Dominguez’s closest family and friends.
Lester’s an energetic, charismatic, goofy, goal oriented and loving son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, boyfriend, godfather, friend and colleague who passed away suddenly at the young age of 27. We started this organization in honor of him. We believe that had Lester seen a doctor in the 5 years prior, maybe other preventative actions could have been taken.
A couple of weeks before Lester passed, he was experiencing some discomfort in his chest, but didn’t think much of it. On the morning of February 12, he decided to get checked out. He drove himself to the ER only to find out he was actually having a heart attack. There was a 99% blockage to his heart. The doctors performed a procedure to open up the blood flow and everyone was relieved that he was going to be okay and coming home later that week. While at the hospital, he had his labs done and found out that his blood sugar level was well over 400mg/dL (a normal range is between 130-140 mg/dL after a meal) and a blood pressure of 179/134 (normal range is less than 120/80). These consistently high values indicate he was diabetic and had high blood pressure which are two major risk factors for developing heart problems. On the morning of Valentine’s Day 2013, Lester suffered a second heart attack and passed away in his sleep.
