  • Sobre Nós

Teens Run DC (TRDC) empowers underserved youth to strengthen their physical fitness, self-confidence, problem-solving strategies, and goal-setting skills through a mentoring and distance running program. With a fundamental belief in caring relationships and a welcoming community as the contexts for learning and growth and a strengths-based approach to our youth, we dream of a world where all youth feel more connected to their communities and more confident in themselves. Through increased connectedness and confidence, they can learn, grow, and succeed. During the school year, students train alongside TRDC coaches and mentors who challenge and guide these youth to develop greater responsibility, discipline, perseverance, and goal-setting skills as they train for area road races from the 5K to marathon distances. Coaches and mentors serve as strong, positive role models, and with peer support, work towards both individual and common goals. Teens Run DC creates a thoughtful and supportive community fostering a sense of hope, belonging, and self-worth for all participants.

No prior running experience is required to join our non-competitive community. We welcome runners, walkers, and movers of all levels of fitness.
