Sobre Nós

San Diego Second Chance Program

The San Diego Second Chance Program is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Second Chance creates opportunities for people to transform their own lives by fostering behavioral changes that promote personal responsibility, healthy relationships and positive contributions to society. We accomplish this through programs that provide job readiness and life skills training, along with job placement, mental health and prisoner re-entry services, relapse prevention and sober-living housing for adults and youth in need.

The Second Chance Urban Garden Program

The Second Chance Urban Garden Program is a 7 week job training designed for youth ages 14-21 who have been involved in the juvenile justice system.

Phase I of the program consists of a week long job readiness training that focuses on accountability, work ethics, and behavior in the work place.

Phase II involves hands on work experience on site at Second Chance’s Urban Garden. In addition to learning the ins and outs of running a small scale garden business, youth participate in cooking classes, job development sessions, job relevant field trips, restorative justice projects, and earn high school credits and a monetary stipend for their time.

In Phase III youth receive one on one case management and develop education and career plans.
