Orlando Cares, Mayor Buddy Dyer’s Cities of Service Initiative, address two key community challenges- improving youth literacy and increasing community safety- by mobilizing citizens as volunteers who make service a part of the solution. Through a collaborative process, hundreds of stakeholders helped design Orlando Cares. Primarily funded with a Cities of Service Impact Volunteering Grant, Orlando Cares is a partnership with the Corporation for National Community Service.
We currently have 6 programs that serve low-income area children either helping to build literacy skills, career development, or teach about gardening and nutrition.
Our programs are:
Mayor Buddy's Book Club
The Garden
Preschool Ambassadors
Path Finders
Third Grade Reads Powered by Read 2 Succeed
