Brooklyn School of Inquiry

Brooklyn School of Inquiry is a public K-8 citywide Gifted and Talented School located in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.  Our mission it to provide exemplary teaching targeted to the unique needs of our students, and to encourage them to become self-directed learners who think of themselves as active members of the world community.  We believe students learn best when they make connections across disciplines and learn through integrated units of study. We offer an arts-enriched school environment that promotes creativity and divergent thinking. We believe in the innate gifts of all learners when given the opportunity to construct their own knowledge and discover the world through project-based, self-directed learning.  We believe that knowledge is constructed socially, that students are each others' greatest teachers, and that teaching is the ongoing art of facilitating great discussions among students.
