Duke Law's D.C. Summer Institute offers short courses taught by Duke Law faculty on topics of broad interest to college students and professionals working in D.C., such as constitutional and regulatory law, the legislative process, and the legal framework in which public policy is formulated and implemented. Courses are offered at the close of the workday during two, two-week sessions in July. New in the summer of 2015, courses will be held at the Washington offices of premier law firm Jones Day, located in the historic Acacia Building at 51 Louisiana Ave. NW.

Constitutional, statutory, and regulatory law provide the legal and policy frameworks for the work that many people are engaged in, particularly those who work in Washington, D.C. Duke Law's D.C. Summer Institute on Law and Policy is designed to address the educational interests and needs of students and professionals who seek to better understand and operate within these frameworks. Undergraduate students who are considering a career in law or policy, and young professionals who work in regulatory or policy-making fields, will particularly benefit from these targeted courses, as well as anyone interested in how the law shapes policy and regulation in the United States.

The program is open to rising college juniors and seniors, graduate and professional students, lawyers, legislative aides, federal agency employees, nongovernmental analysts, journalists, and others.
