Center for Justice

The Center for Justice (CFJ) is a legal advocacy organization that works for the empowerment of individuals and provides vigorous oversight and advocacy on issues where the community’s rights need to be defended and community voices need to be heard. We accomplish our mission by practicing effective advocacy, providing consistent and credible leadership, respecting those we work with, and educating our members of the community and civic leaders. Strategies used to complete our mission includes public education, community organizing, policy advocacy, and litigation.

Founded in 1999, CFJ has been dedicated to addressing civil rights, discrimination, poverty, government accountability, and the environment. CFJ has been a significant voice in efforts to reform our local justice system to make policing and the criminal justice system more accountable and to eliminate disparate treatment based upon race, sexual orientation, or economic status.
