  • Missão

We exist to expand the choices our unhoused and under-resourced neighbors have when they are sick and when it is time for them to die by providing a community clinic, tiny hospice homes, and street-based Palliative and Hospice Care.

    Sobre Nós

We are a community of people in Portland, OR who believe that everyone should have access to a safe place to wrap up their lives when it is time for that. We understand that because hospice in our country is set up with the intent for the patient to do hospice in the comfort of their home with their loved ones providing their day-to-day care, people who lack adequate living spaces and community supports for this model do not have a lot of choices when it is time for them to die.

We understand that people who have been living inadequately housed for a long time carry the lion's share of trauma and, as a result, need choice and kindness. Our model involves a street-facing sliding scale walk-in clinic for the community with community eating/gathering space, a semi-circle of tiny homes for the hospice spaces behind this main building, and a farm interspersed throughout. The tiny homes give our residents the choice to move between spaces to be alone and spaces to be together, reducing trauma burden. The clinic and farm serve multiple functions. They create diversified funding streams so that we are not reliant on medicare/medicaid reimbursements and they create access points for people who are chronically housed to interact with people who are chronically unhoused and form bonds of connection beyond their housing status. The farm creates balance in a space where death is happening and the clinic creates an opportunity to build trust over time with people who have well-earned medical mistrust so that small problems can be addressed before they become big problems. Our space also works to decrease the trauma burden of those living on the street by giving them the opportunity to witness their loved one having a good death so that their trauma is less and when it is time for them to consider hospice, they know there is a safe space for them to do so.
