UNITE HERE! Local 878

UNITE HERE! Local 878 is a progressive labor union, fighting for dignity, living wages and affordable health care for hospitality workers in Alaska. Our members – many of them African-Americans, Latino and Asian immigrants, and women – work in the hotel, food service, airport and industrial laundry industries. Local 878’s parent union, UNITE HERE! represents over 250,000 workers in the United States and Canada.

Local 878 represents approximately 1,100 workers throughout the state of Alaska; over half of our members work at full service hotels in Anchorage. Through fighting for strong union contracts and organizing non-union workers, we are building a movement to raise standards and improve working conditions in our industries. Currently, workers at the Sheraton and Hilton hotels in Anchorage are engaged in ongoing struggles to maintain the job standards that they have enjoyed for decades.
