Reconnecting Families Inc.

Our Mission is to enhance and sustain the collaborative partnership between the community, the academic sector and the government of Cobb County to help children and families live drug free lives.

Reconnecting Families was established as a nonprofit in 2007 to directly benefit Drug Court participants with hopes of increasing the success of Drug Court participants, decreasing their recidivism rates and reducing the burden to the court system and taxpayers. Drug courts are a nationally proven strategy to address drug problems facing our communities. Cobb County’s Family Dependency and Juvenile Drug Courts have been successfully producing sober individuals for years, but the court staff wondered if there was a way to increase that success rate. As the community began learning more about the good works being accomplished by these two Drug Courts, under Presiding Judge Juanita Stedman, donations began to flow into the Reconnecting Families. The staff needed a way to offer a hand-up to these families so that each fragile and newly sober family, mostly lead by single mothers, would feel they had a support system that would follow them into treatment, after treatment, and for years into sobriety and healthy living.  Through community partnerships, clothes, household items, furniture and funds are donated.  Reconnecting Families is a major contributing factor into what makes the Family Dependency and Juvenile Drug Courts such a huge success, by offering a financial support, clothing and household goods to keep families intact and focused on sober living.
