Our Village Gardens

Mission: Our Village Gardens brings a spirit of hope to the people by growing and sharing food, learning and teaching skills, and empowering community leadership. Our Village Gardens leverages community organizing, skill building, and leadership development to address current and long-term disparities in food access. In addressing both immediate needs and underlying root causes, Our Village Gardens centers community leadership to create a more just food system.

Values

Collaboration: Working together, sharing skills/ideas and building deep relationships across programs and with partners is essential to the sustainability and vitality of Our Village Gardens .

Community Engagement: Direct involvement (input, decision making, feedback, participation) from a wide and diverse (language, ability, race, class, age, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) group of neighbors is at the heart of Our Village Gardens.

Equity: We understand and push back against policies and structures that oppress our community. Transparency and equitable distribution of power among staff and community leaders is integral to the health of Our Village Gardens.

Healthy Sustainable funding: Sustainable funding that comes from many different places ensures community, programs, and staff are supported and our work has a long-term impact.
