Ladder

Ladder is a not-for-profit organisation established by a group of former AFL players, who witnessed the issue of homelessness first hand and recognized that the AFL industry and its networks could do more to address this issue. In establishing Ladder in 2007 their aim was to provide an innovative service for young people experiencing homelessness, while taping in to the resources and networks available through a natural affiliation with the AFL.

With the backing of the AFL and the players themselves, we are commitment to providing long term solutions that assist young people to break the cycle of homelessness for themselves. Our aim is to build their capacity, skills and talents as they strive to overcome their barriers to independence and ultimately achieve their aspirations.

We work with local community partners to integrate our innovative programs with traditional accommodation and support services. This holistic approach means that while young people have a roof over their head and onsite support, we can provide tailored programs of support and development that:

• ensures they can move on to live independently
• reconnects them with their community
• secures their health and wellbeing
• provides them with pathways to education, employment and training.

Ladder currently has capacity to work with 35 young people
