The Healing Center

The Healing Center, also known as Trinity Healing Center, Inc. is not-for-profit organization committed to the intervention and prevention of family violence and abuse, valuing the diversity of faith, culture and personal experience. We seek to empower families to live safe and healthy lives utilizing a holistic approach.

The Healing Center was created in the 2000 in response to the growing need to serve those who suffer in silence and who were affected by domestic violence. Our services include information and assistance, referrals, educational support groups and community workshops. At the heart of our mission is a set of core values that The Healing Center, lives by; we work within the worldview of the individuals served. We believe in meeting our families where they are by respecting their personal lifestyle and faith beliefs. We respect and value the diversity of each individual. We walk and partner with those we serve on the journey to healing.

The Healing Center helps families affected by violence to understand their options and to take steps toward healing and self-sufficiency. In all instances, we believe their story, validate their feelings, emphasize safety, affirm that the victim is not to blame and respect, support and empower without telling the individual what to do. Our services are in Spanish and in English we provide:.

Information – on resources that are available to insure safety, such as how to obtain an order of protection, filing a police report and how to file a petition for child custody.

Assistance- about what steps to take to obtain health care and other needs the clients may have. On occasions we escort clients to court or police precincts.

Advocacy - to other service providers, law enforcement and city agencies on behalf of victims and survivors.

Support Groups – that provide individual supportive counseling as well as group sessions that help clients to understand the dynamics of violence raise consciousness, regarding the cycle of violence in their lives and will empower women to live in a healthy and safe environment.

Referrals – to appropriate agencies which include legal services, housing assistance, entitlements, mental health clinical support and available shelters.

Community Workshops – We provide domestic violence workshops to schools, churches and community based organization.

The Daughters of the Lotus Project- for teenage girls who witness and are victimized by violence in the home and in response to our nation’s growing epidemic of teen dating violence. The program encourages positive self-image and goals development through creative activities and discussion in a comfortable and secure environment.

The Children’s Project – Individual and group counseling for children ages 5 -10 that witness domestic violence in the home. (New Initiative to start April 2014)
