Downtown Greens

Downtown Greens is a nonprofit providing 58.7 acres of publicly accessible, park-like greenspace and gardens in downtown Fredericksburg, VA. We offer youth and adult educational opportunities. Our Downtown Campus is open from sunrise to sunset, 365 days per year.

Our Garden Sprouts program provides weekly lessons that take place during the school year taught by our staff to 10 classes of preschool aged children at the Walker Grant Center campus in Fredericksburg. Our Youth Farm Program is a free, multi-layered after-school program meeting weekly in a non-traditional learning/play environment that includes gardening, nature craft, and environmental literacy.

Downtown Greens was founded in 1995 and has a mission to enhance the well-being of our community by connecting people with nature through education and the preservation of greenspaces.
