Release

Release is the national centre of expertise on drugs and drug laws, providing free legal services to people who use drugs and those most affected by the UK’s drug laws. We actively engage and support young people and those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (‘BAME’) communities who are disproportionately impacted by drugs policing, and also campaign for the end of criminal sanctions for possession offences in recognition that the evidence supports that such an approach is unnecessary, harmful and undermines public health.

TalkingDrugs is a Release project offering an online space which reflects the global challenge posed by illicit drugs. It provides an opportunity to share stories and insights that will help us find better ways to control illicit drugs and prevent them causing excessive harm.
