Mattapan Community Health Center

Mattapan Community Health Center (MCHC) is a comprehensive health delivery organization that serves individuals from the Mattapan, Dorchester, Roxbury and Hyde Park neighborhoods of Boston, as well as adjacent Boston suburbs like Brockton, Randolph, and Stoughton. It is the only community health center in Mattapan and Hyde Park.

Established in 1972 as the Avenue Neighborhood Health Center; it was incorporated in 1974 with its current name; click here to see some of the major milestones in our history. MCHC is independently licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Board members represent communities served by the Health Center. The senior leadership and staff are diverse, dedicated, experienced professionals.

MCHC was one of the first health centers in the country to receive federal funding under the Carter Urban Health Initiative; today the federal grant remains a major source of funding to support the Center's health services for the underinsured and underserved populations.

MCHC is committed to its mission of improving the quality of life for residents of Mattapan and surrounding communities by providing comprehensive, accessible, affordable and culturally appropriate community health care services, including primary and preventive health services.

MCHC provides a full array of services for all age groups to address health problems. These services include Primary Care, Dental and OB-GYN Services; and Preventive Health Care and Social Services.

In addition, MCHC participates in vitamin D deficiency/insufficency with various entities including Boston University Medical Center. Dermatology and Podiatry Services are on-site specialty services. MCHC has successfully led a collaborative effort through the American Public Health Association to place a vitamin D policy on the national agenda. Vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency is a health problem of epidemic proportion across all life cycles and in all populations.
