The Thomson Reuters Foundation, the charitable arm of the world’s leading provider of news and information, is committed to empowering people in need around the world with trusted information and free legal assistance. The Foundation leverages the skills, values and expertise from across Thomson Reuters to promote the rule of law, save lives during crises and improve standards of journalism. Our initiatives stand for more effective humanitarian relief, journalistic excellence, innovative approaches to addressing social problems, better governance and transparency, and access to the rule of law. They are the embodiment of the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias. The Foundation runs the global portal, Trust.org, where it’s three major programs reside: TrustMedia – the training of journalists worldwide and the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University; AlertNet – the global humanitarian news web site and the Emergency Information Service which provides life-saving information for communities affected by major natural disasters; and TrustLaw – a global hub for free legal assistance and news and information on good governance and women’s rights.
