Adversity To Prosperity

The mission of Adversity to Prosperity is to engage in the uplifting of communities through service and education events. We sponsor family and community-oriented activities to encourage everyone to pursue their educational dreams. We are dedicated to helping innercity residents with their educational needs through small financial incentives such as book scholarships, admission application fees and school uniforms and supplies.

Goals for the foundation:

1) Pay Application fees for college applications for those who will meet the necessary requirements.

2) Assist with fees for books and supplies for high school and college students.

3) Help offset school uniform costs.

4) Establish mentoring programs for our youth.

5) Roll out our "Margaret Gaskin" Scholarship for Women who reside in CT. Margaret Gaskin, Tyrone's aunt, is a woman who very much believes in education and promoting female empowerment. She graduated from Fordham University with her Master's Degree in Social work. Unfortunately she lost her battle to cancer in early 2012 but we want to preserve her memory by creating this scholarship that will reflect her vision on education.

6) Roll out our "April E. Ogden" Scholarship for Women who reside in IL. April E. Ogden, Thea's mother, was a very selfless and kind woman who put her loved ones before herself. She dropped out of Englewood High school due to pregnancy; however she did go on to get her GED and planned to attend college before she unexpectedly passed away in the 80s. Her GED actually arrived right after she passed away. We are creating this scholarship in her memory as we know she loved helping others and believed in education as well.

7) Roll out our "Prosperous" Scholarship for Women or Men who are minorities and pursuing a career into the education field.
