Occidental College--Health Services

Emmons Health Center provides high quality medical and psychological services to the Occidental College community. We have a holistic focus, acknowledging the close relationship between physical and mental well being. We recognize the complex social, cultural and developmental issues students may be dealing with during the college years. Our medical services include: outpatient diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, clinical laboratory services, health education, women’s healthcare, confidential HIV testing, and prescription and non-prescription medications. Emmons also provides short term individual, couple or family counseling for issues commonly found in a college student population, including personal and family issues, depression and eating disorder screening programs, and referrals to community services and providers.

Founded in 1887, Occidental is a small, highly selective college in a big city. We are located eight miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. The college is consistently named as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Occidental serves a full-time student population of nearly 1800 undergraduates, almost three-quarters of whom live in the coed residence halls or in the surrounding community.
