Free Our Neighbors uses donor funds to pay immigration bonds for people held in immigration jail who currently lack the means to pay the bond themselves.
Bond money is returned at the end of a case, so that the same funds can eventually be re-used to assist others. Importantly, Free Our Neighbors also works to connect detained people with a broad support network and has partnered with faith-based groups, community-based organizing groups, and legal service providers across the country. We believe local partners are best suited to identify cases where release is most critical, to connect people who are released to community-based organizing, and ultimately to build power among those served.
Free Our Neighbors is a completely volunteer-run organization. We are dedicated to using donations to pay immigration bonds as directly as possible.
