About Us:
We are a bilingual project-based education program located on the Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico with international students between the ages of 7 - 12 and a minimum enrollment of one month. We have one lead teacher from the United States (bi-lingual native English speaker and Montessori teacher) and a Spanish teacher/teacher's assistant (bi-lingual local native Spanish speaker).
The maximum number of students is 15 due to the physical space available at the school as well as to ensure that students receive individual attention and instruction from our teachers.
We hold regular scheduled school days from 9am-3pm with an open invitation for parent and community volunteer participation. The children leave the classroom as much as possible to learn from the world around us and there are PE and Music classes twice a week.
Our Mission:
Create an exciting and engaging learning environment to build our children’s natural desire to learn
Teach through creative projects and experiences that are age appropriate and have meaning and value within the age group
Teach through exploration and experimentation
Teach problem-solving techniques
Teach each child as an individual
Encourage learning through our children’s natural inquisitiveness and imaginative qualities
Foster independence, loyalty, trust, friendship, inclusiveness, social justice and compassion for one another and the world at large
Foster a sense of respect for oneself, others, and one’s environment
Provide an understanding of good health and nutrition, exercise, and responsible/sustainable living
Learn to accept and celebrate individuality, to be independent thinkers, respectfully question authority and to speak-up for oneself
