Sacred Spaces Conservancy partners with congregations across the country as they consider their long-term presence, finding solutions that preserve houses of worship to benefit all people for generations to come.

Every year, congregations face a decision they never expected to make: what to do about a building that has outlasted the resources to keep it. Some are shrinking. Some are growing and renting space with no place to put down roots. Some are sitting on buildings that could serve their neighborhoods far more than they currently do.

Sacred Spaces Conservancy walks with those congregations. We start with assessments of their people, finances, and facilities, so decisions rest on clear information rather than fear or a single urgent offer. From there we help them plan: acquiring a building, repurposing underused space, negotiating a sale that protects the building's future, or finding the path that lets them stay.

Houses of worship do more than hold services. They shelter food pantries, recovery meetings, preschools, polling places, and neighbors who need somewhere to go. When one is sold and demolished, a neighborhood loses something it can't rebuild.
