CHOP's mission is to alleviate hunger and homelessness in Peekskill and its environs by providing food and shelter to persons in need. CHOP provides temporary housing for homeless adults and refers clients to approprate resources in order to help them attain independent living.

CHOP's purpose is to develop, establish, and operate programs for the homeless and hungry of Peekskill and the surrounding area: to provide shelter and food to and to work to establish permanent housing for homeless adults; to provide food to families in need; to educate the community regarding the problems of and solutions to homelessness and hunger and to do any and all things necessary and proper so as to maximize homeless persons' independence, equality and well-being.

CHOP's programs are:

  • Jan Peek House, a 19 bed shelter for homeless adults, providing shelter, food, and a conduit to comprehensive support services, under contract to the Westchester County Department of Social services.
  • The Warming Center, also at Jan Peek House,providing emergency overnight shelter for to 8-10 people
  • Fred's Pantry, a FoodBank for Westchester "Choice" pantry operating at and in cooperation with St. Peter's Episcopal Church

Programs other than the shelter are funded by grants and donations.
