Root Institute is a socially engaged Buddhist Dharma Center located in Bodhgaya, India and was established in 1984 and registered as a Charitable Trust. In addition to offering retreats and courses in Buddhism, the Institute supports a number of social service projects serving the rural poor in India's most impoverished state of Bihar. Projects include a homeopathic clinic, a mobile health clinic that serves surrounding villages, an allopathic tuberculosis and general medical clinic, physical therapy department treating post-polio and cerebral palsy, Women's Health Program, Adolescent Girls Program, and care and support for persons affected by HIV/AIDS.
