ADULT LITERACY CENTER OF OZAUKEE COUNTY

  • Missão

The Adult Literacy Center of Ozaukee County is Improving Lives through Literacy in Wisconsin.

    Sobre Nós

The Adult Literacy Center of Ozaukee County was founded in 1988 by members of Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton, Wisconsin, who wanted to put their faith into action by providing free literacy services to the community. Volunteer tutors provide one-on-one instruction in English writing, reading, speaking and comprehension at the center’s main office in Grace Church as well as at local public libraries. In 2013, ALC officially became an independent 501(c)(3).

There are currently 40 active tutors who devote 130 hours per month to teaching. The tutors work with foreign-born students seeking to learn English as a second language as well as students seeking to improve their reading and writing skills. Volunteers receive training before they work with students.
