Pasadena Native Plant Project

  • Missão

The Pasadena Native Plant Project inspires, supports and empowers people to restore healthy, native habitat and develop lasting personal connections within our neighborhoods. By providing an accessible platform to learn to grow, plant and care-for native plants and native plant gardens, we engage the public through outreach, education, volunteerism, collaboration. PNPP allows for affordable access to high-quality, locally-grown native plants and related goods & materials.

    Sobre Nós

The Pasadena Native Plant Project, a recently formed 501(c)3, was founded by a group of local native plant enthusiasts in order to create a vehicle for a number of community-based restoration, education, and urban gardening projects. We work with local non-profits, schools, and community members to develop public garden projects which emphasize the use of local native plants, and other strategies for water-conservation, habitat restoration and sustainability. We have designed and implemented several gardens at local public schools, working with students, teachers and parents, to improve the quality of their campus’ and the quality of life for those who use them. For our most recent project, we have partnered with Victory Starts Now, who provide housing to homeless people suffering from serious mental disorders who have been diverted from LA County’s vast jail system. We are developing a gardening therapy program for their residents in which the community members will learn permaculture, ecology, water conservation and more while helping to rehabilitate good habitat in their neighborhood in South Central Los Angeles.
