The Carousel Center, Inc. is committed to providing a child-friendly environment to meet the needs of abused and neglected children, and to support child abuse prevention efforts in Southeastern North Carolina.

Carousel provides crucial child abuse intervention services in a two-pronged approach:

• High-quality Child Medical Exams (CMEs) and Child Interviews (CIs) to ensure the best possible child abuse case investigation, forensically-sound evidence collection and a strong investigation basis for criminal accountability for child abusers and predators in the Cape Fear Community. Additionally, Family Advocates assist non-offending parents/caregivers to navigate the complex criminal justice system, providing court advocacy and accompaniment, as well as supportive group services for the entire family system to heal.

• High-quality Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) services for all children exposed to traumatic events, so that they can engage in this science-based, proven effective treatment strategy to begin the healing journey, and return the child onto the pre-abused path of natural, healthy child development.

Primarily, The Carousel Center receives referrals from Law Enforcement agencies, Departments of Social Services (DSS) and private primary care Pediatrician practices.
