Federated Conservationists of Westchester County, New York, was founded in 1962 as a non-profit coalition of organizations and individuals dedicated to preserving Westchester County's natural and historic resources. FCWC promotes environmentally sound policies for transportation, soil and energy conservation, solid and toxic waste management, biodiversity, habitat and historic site protection, air and water pollution control. FCWC also supports environmentally sustainable development and land use policies. FCWC strives to education Westchester residents, public officials and the business community about environmental issues and how they relate to public health, the economy, and the quality of life. It acts as a liaison between Westchester's private constituencies and various levels of government. It strives to promote a strong environmental consciousness in the business community as well as in the legislature and governmental agencies.
