Galvan Initiatives Foundation

New York

  • Sobre Nós

Galvan Foundation is a new type of foundation which invests 100% of its resources in the community it serves. We promote social equity in Columbia County, NY by rehabilitating distressed historic buildings and neighborhoods to create spaces offering housing, education, community services, and economic opportunity; and by providing services and developing programs cooperatively with partners and affiliates who share in our efforts to promote social equity.

In just five years we’ve achieved widespread impact in Columbia County, including:

    • Completing Galvan Armory, a unique community center in an historic armory hosting a library, senior center, after school program, and soon a child care center.
    • Providing start up funding and developing space for an Alternative Education Program and a Bard Early College program now providing over 60 students with specialized education opportunities.
    • Developing and preserving 177 units of affordable housing, and 33,500 square feet of commercial and community rental space in historic buildings and neighborhoods.
    • Granting over $2 million to nonprofit organizations serving Columbia County and investing over $30 million in the community.
