Shepherd University, a West Virginia public liberal arts university, is a diverse community of learners and a gateway to the world of opportunities and ideas. As it relates to engagement, one of our core values, Shepherd University fosters environments in which students, faculty, staff, and members of the community engage with each other to form mutually beneficial relationships. We believe that meaningful engagement, with ideas and with people, promotes deep learning and nurtures critical thought. The Office of Student Community Services and Service Learning embraces this mission of service as a foundation for all initiatives generated and supported. This office has hosted an AmeriCorps VISTA for the past three years and looks forward to continuing the work of creating sustainable service projects that focus on our most vulnerable populations.
