Capital Camps & Retreat Center

Capital Camps was founded in 1987 and is an independent non-profit organization (501C). Through our overnight camp programs we provide informal Jewish education via a fun, meaningful and nurturing experience – with the long term goal of enhancing Jewish identity and therefore community vitality. Capital Retreat Center provides a wonderful setting with high quality accommodations and services for community non-profits and corporations to meet, play and renew their commitment to their organization mission.

Our camp program encompasses four age-specific villages on our 267 acre facility - Benjamin, Reich, Kaufmann, and Macks Villages. Serving campers entering grades 3 through 10. In addition, our LIT and CIT programs train young adults to be our future staff and community leaders. Our goal is to offer Jewish camping to anyone who wishes to participate. To achieve this we operate an inclusive special needs program, and maintain a significant commitment to families unable to afford camp via our financial aid program.

We are located in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania just over one hour from metropolitan Washington D.C., and Baltimore.

CCRC is affiliated with the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, the Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, JCCA (Jewish Community Center Association), ACA (American Camp Association), FJC (The Foundation for Jewish Camp), and JCamp 180 (a program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation).
