Orphans, Youth, Aged and Women Initiative (OYAWI) was established in 2019 and registered in 2020 by NGO-Coordination Board of Kenya. Current members of Board of Directors include professionals in different fields of expertise. OYAWI operates in the counties of Nairobi, Kajiado, Siaya, Homa Bay and Kakamega. The main aim of its establishment is to empower the vulnerable members of the society to decide and participate in development activities in our areas of jurisdiction
The objective of our organization is to empower and boost all needy orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), youth, elderly and women across communities to learn and understand their rights hence undertake income generating activities for self-sufficiency and sustainability. Our organization will train and sensitize the communities on income generating activities, green economy that would respond to climate change positively and initiate environmental conservation measures, ensuring eco-friendly environment devoid of pollution.
OYAWI supports the elderly in maintaining their physical fitness through exercises and spiritual nourishment; the youth are trained by relevant professionals to develop and nurture their skills, engage in environmental conservation by planting environmental friendly tree-seedlings, fruity-tree seedlings and sensitizing the communities on disaster risk reduction and environmental degradation. Women are empowered through provision of relevant basic life skills which enable them initiate income generating activities for example, Savings Internal and Lending Communities (SILC), tailoring, table banking, confectionary, basketry and knitting for self-sufficiency and sustainability among others.
We support orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) by providing and supplementing educational materials across our regions of operations.
