Sonoma Mountain Institute

  • Sobre Nós

Sonoma Mountain Institute works to support human beings’ relationship with nature so that both may be mutually enhanced. SMI uses integrated methods of cattle grazing, soil-building, replanting grasses and trees, and water management, as well as providing space for individuals to experience nature firsthand. Through initial, ongoing, and future projects, SMI is developing methods and protocols for managing soil and open space in ways that sustain biodiversity, stimulate biology, reactivate proper water cycling, remineralize depleted soils, and help regenerate and support the vitality of natural systems. SMI continues to do research and train others in these methods and offers support in efforts to rehabilitate and manage soil and open space. We also work to promote public awareness of land use matters, such as the value of open space and the need for a better dialogue concerning natural resources.
