The Little Women Book Club was founded in 1999 with nine girls from through-out the city of Memphis. The book club is designed for girls ages 10-17. Our mission is to give young ladies, particularly those from at-risk areas in the city, the opportunity to meet, discuss books and form lasting friendships. Our aim is to address negative social attitudes and behavior by selecting books culturally relevant to them. LWBC will use the vehicle of literacy to promote positive self-images for girls and academic excellence. The club is free and open to all students
