Lois and Richard England formed the England Family Foundation (originally named the Lois and Richard England Foundation) in 1990 as an extension of their personal commitment to philanthropy, and as the embodiment of the Jewish call to repair the world, Tikkun Olam. Their lifelong commitment to social justice, unwavering generosity, and philanthropic ideals shaped the legacy of the foundation and continue to inform its work now and in the future.
The England Family Foundation focuses specifically on the DC area. Through our giving we:
- seek to prepare local youth to be a force for positive change;
- preserve people’s dignity and ensure that poverty has no endurance and;
- celebrate diverse voices to shape a more just and multiracial democratic system.
The Foundation also makes grants to designated nonprofits in honor of the legacy of Lois and Richard England and their long-term dedication to organizations that promote Jewish religion and culture.
