ALIMA USA

ALIMA, the Alliance for International Medical Action, is a humanitarian medical organization with its operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. Founded with three principal areas of expertise: providing high-quality medical care to vulnerable populations in crises, both acute and recurring, partnering with and supporting the development of national medical organizations in our countries of operation, and conducting medical and operational research to bring innovation to the field to improve the delivery of humanitarian aid, ALIMA is committed to transforming the way humanitarian medicine is delivered.

By sharing resources and expertise, ALIMA and its partners are expanding access to care for communities at risk while increasing humanitarian medical response in some of the world's most challenging areas. 

Since our founding in 2009, by a team of experts in emergency medical action, ALIMA has treated over 5 million patients in 14 countries, primarily in Sub-Saharan Africa. ALIMA is currently working in eleven countries with five national partners; Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Niger, and South Sudan. 

In 2019, Dr. Richard Kojan, President of ALIMA, received "Game Changing Innovator" award for the creation of the CUBE (Biosecure Emergency Care Unit for Outbreaks) at the REACH (Recognizing Excellence Around Champions of Health) award at the Reaching the Last Mile Forum presented by Bill Gates. Additionally, ALIMA is proud to be the recipient of the 2015 European Union Health Award for its work on Ebola in Guinea.
