Park Slope Schoolhouse Child Care Center

  • Sobre Nós

Park Slope Schoolhouse is an early childhood educational program serving children ages 1-4 years old.

    Mission Statement

We believe in the integrity and individuality of each child. We strive to create a caring, diverse, nurturing, and stimulating environment that provides children the opportunity to grow in their own distinct manner and at their own individual pace through play and organized activity.

    Statement of Philosophy

Using an integrated approach, we provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum to assist with the natural process of a child’s development; cognitive, social and emotional, gross/fine motor, play and sensory skills.

We encourage children to make their own choices and to develop an appropriate level of independence while remaining respectful and responsible members of a larger classroom and “school” community.

We value and welcome the involvement of our families and the community at large in the learning process of our children.

The children thrive under the supportive care of teachers who are qualified, trained and experienced to work with young children. We follow policies and procedures, enabling us to provide a well-organized program in as safe an environment as we can provide.

    Overview

The Schoolhouse offers a full day program for children aged one to four years old. The program was originally started in 1986 by New York Methodist Hospital Brooklyn for its employees. It became a part of the Berkeley Carroll School in September, 1999. A group of parents of the children of Park Slope Schoolhouse assumed operation of the program in September, 2009 through a newly created non-profit entity. The Schoolhouse is open to anyone in the community on a first- come, first- served basis.
