Why We Do It
- In 2019, black fourth-graders' average math scores were about 21 points below their white peers in South Carolina on the Nation's Report Card

- Children of affluent families on average fared better than lower-income students during the Covid-19 pandemic due their access to private tutors and learning pods. Meanwhile, lower-income students were more likely to learn virtually with no parental supervision
