Our Mission Statement: Through TOS's unique position, lead the charge in advancing the science-based understanding of the causes, consequences, prevention and treatment of obesity.

Our Values: The Obesity Society is committed to improving the lives of those with obesity, nurturing careers of obesity scientists and practitioners and promoting the interdisciplinary nature of obesity research, management and education. In so doing, The Obesity Society, its members and staff pledge to uphold:

The Society (TOS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) scientific and educational organization with more than 2,500 members. About 39% are PhDs, 35% MDs and 2% RDs. Physician specialties include endocrinology, internal medicine, psychology, psychiatry, pediatrics bariatric surgery and family practice. Members work in universities, hospitals, individual or group practice, medical school, government, and other fields.
