We are a team of volunteers who rescue, transport, and care for injured and abandoned Muscovy ducks. We're currently closed to new intakes, but we have a lot of Muscovy residents who need our care. We also do a lot to educate the public about Muscovies and the rough lives they often have in Florida.
The Situation
You found three cute, little Muscovy ducklings wandering around on the sidewalk peeping their little heads off. They lost their mom, and you can’t find her anywhere.
Obviously, you can’t leave them out there all alone, so you scoop them up and put them in a box with a towel in the bottom and keep them warm. Now, what do you do? You can’t keep them; you aren’t equipped to raise three ducks. You find out about a veterinarian in the area who will take the ducklings. Problem solved.
Unfortunately, taking them to a vet would result in their euthanasia; wildlife rehabbers don't deal with them because they aren't native to Florida; and leaving them would likely cause them to die.
The Solution
Enter the Muscovy Sanctuary of Florida, a refuge where Muscovy ducks can grow up and live safely, free from the threat of being killed. Although we are currently at capacity until we can secure a new home for the Sanctuary and its ducks, our commitment to educating the public about the harsh realities Muscovies face in Florida remains unwavering. Through awareness, we hope to inspire meaningful change and a future where Muscovies are granted lives of safety rather than death. At the same time, we continue to help Muscovies in need find secure places to call home, while providing dedicated care to those who reside at the Sanctuary.
