Sobre Nós

The Mission of the Cooperative Feeding Program in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA is to feed hungry bodies, minds, and souls through the provision of nutritious food, information, and referral, with compassion and caring.

Every day, seven days a week, more than 400 excluded people from the margins of society come to the Cooperative Feeding Program to eat. Hunger in Florida – the 10th hungriest State in the union – has grown 50% since 1985 and 29% of children under the age of 13 are “food insecure”, which means they go to bed hungry each night…

The Cooperative Feeding Program feeds hungry bodies, minds and souls - apart from hot meals, the children, women and men can also receive classes in life skills, they have access to job training, haircuts, etc. They are welcomed here with the respect to which all people are entitled. Many of our clients have mental health issues or they are "working poor" - i.e. they have minimum wage employment but even then cannot make ends meet, or they are families affected by unemployment or corporate layoffs.

Special services and referrals are provided to the children of homeless families. The homeless can use the program's physical address, allowing them to apply to government programs which require a permanent address.
